Card Party!

Last night some of my girlfriend's came over for my first ever card party! We had a great time making cards, snacking and of course chatting! It's amazing what you can talk about while making cards! =) ....kinda like studying for a Music History test (sorry inside joke!!).

The first two cards below are cards that I designed and everyone made together.

After we all made the first two cards, the girls designed and made their own card. Here is Jane's.

Here is Jessica's.

Here is the card that both Ashley and Dana made.

We had a great time! Thanks for coming girls!

Happy early 4th everyone!

Prayers Answered!

I have so big news! I quit my job AND I have a new job! I am so excited about all the changes. Aaron and I (along with many of you) have been praying about my job situation for a very long time. I made the decision at then end of the school year that I would be leaving Discovery, but decided I would wait till the summer to really leave. Well, am I ever glad that I waited! Of course, God had this in His plan the whole time. About 2 weeks ago a position at Rainbow Elementary opened up on the Madison City Schools website. One of the wonderful things was that the position was still in Madison City. That means if I got the position I would not loose my tenure and would be in the same system.

Well- I got the call yesterday and was offered the position! Of course, I politely said I would accept and then screamed A LOT after I hung up the phone! So- here are the logistics. I will be at 4, yes 4, elementary schools. I will be at 2 schools each semester. Right now, I know that I will be at Rainbow and Horizon for the first semester. I will be teaching K-2 grade! Then, next semester I will be at Columbia and Heritage. From what my principal at Rainbow thinks...which I guess I'll find out soon enough. I should be teaching K-2 grade there too. I am just so excited about working with the little kids!

I'm sure I will have a lot more to say about this later!

3 Years!

Yesterday was our 3 year anniversary. It really has just flown by. But I can say, now when I go to weddings or see any of the wedding stuff at stores I think- I am so glad all of that is over!! All that preparation, but when I look at our pictures I know it was worth it.

So, last night we went out to eat at this new restaurant in Bridge Street called Connor's. If you haven't been there are live in the area, you need to go! It was more expensive than the normal places, but for the quality of food you are getting it's not that bad. We had the calamari for an appetizer (very soft and great!) then Aaron had a Caesar salad and I had the lobster and crab bisque. That was VERY good. For our meal, Aaron had a sirloin and I had the best fillet EVER. It had this Bousin (not sure how to spell it!) cheese on the top and onion rings. Oh my goodness! I'm not a huge steak person anyway, but now I know it's because I just have to have the really good aged meat! I don't think I'm going to be able to order a steak from anywhere else from now on!

Now, as for gifts and stuff. We decided that we didn't really want to do the gift thing like we usually do. We got each other the new game Wii Fit! It is soooo cool. It measures your BMI (it's not totally accurate though because it doesn't know how much muscle you have). But it keeps track of your weight, BMI and balance. It has Yoga, Strength Training, Aerobics and Balance games. The Yoga stuff is really neat- but I'm into that kind of stuff. The strength training is hard- I tried the push-ups and planks and it was getting really hard so I lowered my knees on the push-ups and it knew!! It always knows when you're cheating because of the weight distribution. The aerobics has stuff like hula-hooping, jogging and step aerobics. The balance games has skiing, tilt game, hitting soccer balls with your head and some other stuff. It has been a lot of fun and so far we've played every day! If you don't have a Wii or haven't tried one, you really should! It really is a fun family game system. Ok- too bad I'm not making money for endorsing Nintendo products!

We had a great evening just hanging out. That's always the best!

Memorial Weekend

So I promised I would post about my amazing Memorial weekend and things just keep coming up that are keeping me pretty busy. BUT this post is for you Kris!

Last weekend, I went to good old Searcy, Arkansas to visit some friends. On the way to Searcy Friday night I stopped in Memphis and met up with Rachel and her family. We watched movies, hung out, went to Michael's...all the normal stuff we do when we're together! On Saturday, Rach's dad cooked out for lunch and then we went to a Memphis Red Birds game. I haven't been to a baseball game in so long! And Rach's dad said I hadn't really even been since most of the games I have been to I was in one of the boxes.

We had good times and lots of good food! Yummy barbecue nachos!! Ok - I know at first thought it sounds really gross. But they were actually really good. They just take your regular nachos but add pork and barbecue sauce! Rachel's had lots of cheese for some reason! I guess they saw her coming! She's due in August by the way!

The next picture was after about 8 - 10 times up and down the stairs for food and bathroom breaks! Oh and catch the awesome socks on this guy! I just had to sneek a pic!

We also got pretty crafty (as usual!). Christy and Collin met us for lunch at Chili's and Christy came over to hang out. She called us old ladies for our crafting abilities!! Check out the coasters we made! Of course, as are all the cards and stuff I make...if you're interested....they're for sale!! Tell me what you think about them.

If was a great long weekend and much needed catch up time with friends!

Painting is fun!

So tonight i did something new and really fun! The director of the flute choir at school got together an end of the year party for all the girls and invited me. We went to this place called The Wine Cellar and had a painting class. I was a little worried, but it was so much fun! Apparently, they do these about every week and do a different painting each time. This painting was designed especially for us. Usually in the class you also get a glass of wine, but seeing as this was a school thing with under-age kids...we didn't do that part!

Anyway- it was a good experience and i think i would really like to do it again. So- the pic is below. Tell me what you think!

I Can Breathe!

It's been forever! I have had so much going on with school that I have not really felt like posting anything.

The school year is finally almost over and I could not be more excited! We just got back last week from our band trip to Disney World. Aaron got to go with me so that was fun! Next time...we won't take 80 jr. high kids with us. Below are some pics from the trip.

Other than school...i have been having a great time teaching children's music classes with Music Together (www.mttnv.com). I am excited about teaching more often this summer. Music Together is for children birth - 5 years old and their parents. It is so much fun and so rewarding. This summer i will be going for training so i will be certified to teach more and get paid more!

Ok..well..i hope to be posting a lot more once school is out!

What A Whirlwind!

Man, it's been a long couple of weeks. I am in the busiest time of the school year right now. We've had competitions, rehearsals and busy weekends. Yesterday, I got up at 2:30 a.m. to get to school by 3:15. The band had to leave at 4:00 a.m. to travel to our State Assessment in Tuscaloosa. Concert Band, my band, performed at 8:00 a.m. and the Wind Ensemble performed at 1:30 p.m. We did not get home until 7:30 p.m.!! What a day! But it was very successful. Both bands received all I's (which is the best you can get!). We were very happy.

I have All-State Choir this weekend with some of my students so that will keep me busy. It's usually a nice trip, though. THEN!! My mom is coming in town for Spring Break! Yay! We're going to have a nice and relaxing time.

Other than that- well I've just been really tired and still having lots of trouble with my mouth. I got a new splint that you can wear with braces from my orthodontist. It's just another thing in my mouth right now. I think it's helping a little but not enough to make a big difference yet. I still have quite a bit that I can't eat. I hope it will get better soon.

I'll try to post more frequently!!
